Never heard of it. How does it end up resolving itself? Where do they find the money? Yeshiva bochurim don't work like girls do, and I can't imagine that most parents are so loose with the cash to cover expensive steaks. If you think eating out is a problem, just wait till you enter shidduchim—that's a HUGE expense! [But one the parents probably don't have an issue covering.] p.s. All their friends are. Perhaps in general bochurim should be more careful about going out which might put pressure on bochurim who can't afford it but want to "fit in". First of all because I love rib steaks :-), but more importantly because you highlight one of the biggest issues facing the Jewish community today - living above your means!
